Travel Tips

From one traveler to another sometimes things can get hectic during your stay. One moment your having fun the next moment you’re completely stressed. Here are a few essentials that I like to keep in mind before I embark for my trips. These tips envolve Packing light, Knowing where to stay and Planning ahead. Following these steps will ensure fun, safe and stress free travels.

 1. I usually leave room in my luggage for my clothes and whatever gifts, trinkets and parcels I pick up along the way. This prevents clutter and saves space for the new clothes and gifts i’ll buy during my stay.

2. When I reserve my hotel ahead of time, I always keep a few back up accommodations in mind. This totally helps in the event that I need to extend my stay and my current hotel is booked.

3. I exchange my currency at the airport prior to departing the country. Not all foreign businesses will take your credit card.

Avalon, California Catalina Island

While spending time in Los Angeles with my friend Maria we decided to embarqe on the journey to Catalina Island, also known as Avalon, California. The best part of my itinerary was definitely the fifteen minute helicopter ride from long beach to Catalina. It was my first time in a helicopter and definitely turned out to be far less frightening than imagined. Upon arrival there was so much excitement. If you're not into flying, there's also an hour long ferry ride that runs daily. When I finally got my sights on the island from the aircraft there was a since of awe and amazement.  I felt like I had been transported to a seaside European city. There was a short walk from the helicopter pad into town  and wallah, Maria and I had arrived. From buffalo's, to Wrigley's, to each small quirk, the locals were quick to inform us of Catalina Islands unique past and present. We dined at a local restaurant, enjoying all American cuisine, visited shops, Took a long residential staircase up to enjoy a breathtaking view and embarqued on a long walk back to the seemingly abandoned ferry port.  In the briskest weather we waited at the port to catch the last boat laughing and trying to stay positive despite the confusion about departure times. This is definitely something to avoid when traveling in the fall. Although I only gave myself a day to explore, In Avalon there are many activities like land tours, boat tours, beaches, Avalon theatre, hotels for overnight stays and diverse dinning options. Until next time!
