Wynwood Walls

It’s a gloomy day today in Miami but as Art Basel comes to a close the walls in the wynwood district will remain to brighten our our dullest days. I’m down with that.

Travel Tips

From one traveler to another sometimes things can get hectic during your stay. One moment your having fun the next moment you’re completely stressed. Here are a few essentials that I like to keep in mind before I embark for my trips. These tips envolve Packing light, Knowing where to stay and Planning ahead. Following these steps will ensure fun, safe and stress free travels.

 1. I usually leave room in my luggage for my clothes and whatever gifts, trinkets and parcels I pick up along the way. This prevents clutter and saves space for the new clothes and gifts i’ll buy during my stay.

2. When I reserve my hotel ahead of time, I always keep a few back up accommodations in mind. This totally helps in the event that I need to extend my stay and my current hotel is booked.

3. I exchange my currency at the airport prior to departing the country. Not all foreign businesses will take your credit card.

Avalon, California Catalina Island

While spending time in Los Angeles with my friend Maria we decided to embarqe on the journey to Catalina Island, also known as Avalon, California. The best part of my itinerary was definitely the fifteen minute helicopter ride from long beach to Catalina. It was my first time in a helicopter and definitely turned out to be far less frightening than imagined. Upon arrival there was so much excitement. If you're not into flying, there's also an hour long ferry ride that runs daily. When I finally got my sights on the island from the aircraft there was a since of awe and amazement.  I felt like I had been transported to a seaside European city. There was a short walk from the helicopter pad into town  and wallah, Maria and I had arrived. From buffalo's, to Wrigley's, to each small quirk, the locals were quick to inform us of Catalina Islands unique past and present. We dined at a local restaurant, enjoying all American cuisine, visited shops, Took a long residential staircase up to enjoy a breathtaking view and embarqued on a long walk back to the seemingly abandoned ferry port.  In the briskest weather we waited at the port to catch the last boat laughing and trying to stay positive despite the confusion about departure times. This is definitely something to avoid when traveling in the fall. Although I only gave myself a day to explore, In Avalon there are many activities like land tours, boat tours, beaches, Avalon theatre, hotels for overnight stays and diverse dinning options. Until next time!

Today in Atlanta before I depart for Los Angeles, I decided to do some last minute shopping. I'm looking to buy a few festive pieces for Halloween. Ragorama, Junk Mans Daughter are two of the best stores for this occasion. I am wearing a Cargo by Cynthia Bailey bag.

A Great City to Visit during Fall, New Haven Connecticut

Today I Have traveled to to New Haven Connecticut. Being here for just a day, my itinerary was pretty straight forward. Visit Soul de Cuba Cafe and wander from there. Arriving in the evening we rented a car and drove from Hartford Bradley airport. I was Excited upon arrival, my traveling companion refusing to let me drive the entire way there, was not. Starved we searched the city for a late dinner. We found a pub like pizza joint, which actually turned out to be quite lively.  The next morning I created a list of sights most desirable and we were on our way. Fall being the most beautiful time of year to visit the north made just cruising a delight. We visited light house point where we discovered an enclosed carousel. We strolled the campus of Yale and of course made our way to Soul de Cuba Cafe. Where we enjoyed our traditional Cuban meals. With our ancestors hanging from the wall and our the Orishas looking on through Molina’s best artwork. I couldn’t help but be at home.

West Tampa Retroville

Welcome to West Tampa. I would consider this the hipster side of town because everyone has sensational style. Businesses like Chairish, Seminole Heights Antique, Frolic Exchange and Relic all provide quality retro and antique goods. Today I hope to find a unique lamp for my bedroom. I'm wearing a Japanese style vintage jacket with a reversible color scheme. Fall is now so I would consider a jacket as an everyday statement piece.
